GVCS Leadership & Support Staff



Terri Schiavone, Executive Director
Terri has been working in the charter school field since 1995, first as an EF and then as GVCS's Founder and Executive Director in 2001. While her family will always remain her most important passion and priority, her other passions include a love for the ocean and ocean creatures. Although she loves looking at the ocean, you will find that she spends most of her free time in the ocean either swimming, snorkeling, stand up paddling, or Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling. She is forever on a quest to interact with dolphins, turtles, and whales in the great deep sea.






Meg Rydman, Director of Education
Meg has worked for GVCS since 2001, serving first as an EF and Advisor before moving into her current role. Meg lives in the Santa Ynez Valley with her husband, Christopher, and two sons, Jack and Everett.








Monica Romero, Support & Development Coordinator
I began teaching in a general ed classroom in 2001 and have worked with children from grades K-12 throughout my teaching career. I graduated from Cal State University Northridge with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and completed a K-12 teaching credential. Following that, I continued my education and earned a masters degree in educational leadership and an administrative credential. My two passions in life are my family and education! I am pleased to have worked at GVCS since 2013.





Tricia Purcell, Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator
Tricia has been teaching since 1999. She began teaching Math in the middle school classroom and then became the new teacher project mentor for her district. She loves working with homeschool families. Tricia received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arizona State University and her Masters in Teaching and Learning from the University of California Santa Barbara. She holds a multiple subject credential and a single-subject math credential. She enjoys cooking, baking, and gardening.





Stephanie Janes, Executive Assistant
Stephanie graduated with a BS in Business Administration and minor in Psychology. Upon graduation, she took a position in the corporate world where she remained for 8 years. Seeking a better work/life balance, Stephanie joined GVCS in 2009. She lives in Ventura with her husband and two young children. Stephanie enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and teaching Pilates. She also loves anything related to USC football!






Lori Llorence, Office Support Coordinator
Lori has been with GVCS since 2005. She lives in Ventura, CA with her husband. She is most happy when spending time with her son and family Texas, and enjoys traveling to new places in the Caribbean.








Mary Deyo, Administrative Assistant
Mary has been with Golden Valley since 2015. She served 10 years in sales for a company in Michigan and relocated to California with her husband to be near their two children, four grandchildren, Mary’s two brothers and their families. She loves theater, art, music and the wonderful California weather.
